A number of different Committees or Councils of the Society are charged with annual responsibilities related to the MSPS and its goals.
Here is a listing and a brief statement about each of them. Please review the list, note their meeting date and plan to become an active participant.
Annual Meeting
Although Annual Meetings are generally hosted by Chapters, the Annual Meeting Committee has the responsibility of overseeing each annual meeting. It ensures continuity from year-to-year and assists the host chapters as needed. The Committee will assist with establishing budgets and schedules for board approval. The Committee meets four times annually.

Budget & Finance Committee
Report monthly Treasure's Report to the MSPS Board. Review Income Statements and Expenditures. Provide Projections on a quarterly basis. Report the amount of Reserves in MSPS (dollars and estimated months)

Bylaws, Policy and Practices Committee
Review and make suggestions of the "Bylaws and Policies " of MSPS

Public Relations Committee -
Monitor and evaluate the MSPS website for an updates and/or improvements. Review contents of the MSPS website to ensure posted information is current. Work in conjuntion with the Executive Director and Assistant to produce written communications to the membership. Make recommendations to increase MSPS membership.

County Surveyors-County Representatives
Provide reports to the Board on the Remonumentation program and county Surveyor iss in the State. Provide the current number ofCounty Surveyors in Michigan, What counties in Michigan have County Surveyors, which County Surveyors are not MSPS members. Develop a program and agenda for the Annual Meeting breakfast session. Continue efforts on the State line project in conjunction with Indiana surveyors.

Chapter Representatives
Develop a calendar that can indicate dates and locations of chapter functions, (meetings, seminars, outings), to be displayed on the MSPS website. Provide reports to the board to indicate topics, attendance, issues (pros & cons), speakers, special guests. Advertise the Surveyors Week being the 3rd week of March. Call for the "Surveyor of the Past" & "Lifetime Achievement" awards.

Legislative
Review legislation for possible actions to benefit surveyors and coordinate actions with the Past Presidents Committee and the MSPS Board.

Past Presidents Committee
Chaired by the Immediate Past President, this committee provides assistance and advice when requested, and has primary responsibility for developing the nominations for director positions on the Board of Directors. This committee also reviews and recommends changes to the MSPS Bylaws and Policies that guide the operation and direction of the organization. The schedule of meetings is predicated on the committee's agenda and meets on an as needed basis.

Proprietors' Committee
Designed to educate members with information related to operating a business, the proprietor's committee meets annually at the annual meeting for a breakfast session. They also provide programs on a periodic basis, and have assisted in special projects for the benefit of the society.

Remonumentation Committee

Scholarship Committee
The Scholarship Committee evaluates applications received from students seeking available scholarship funds. This Committee determines if all qualifications have been met and makes a selection of the recipient from the two qualifying universities in Michigan.

Seminar Committee
Also known as the Continuing Professional Competency, they develop the educational programs that are scheduled throughout the year. The committee is responsible for selecting the speaker, topic, location, date and cost of each seminar. It provides the program held annually the day before the society's annual meeting begins. The committee meets on a periodic basis.
